Diversity

DOJ is dedicated to bringing diversity awareness to all members of the workforce and is committed to equal opportunity, diversity management, and special emphasis programs.

Diversity in DOJ is the valuing of our many differences that distinguish us as individuals, yet unite us in meeting mission goals and objectives. It goes beyond outward differences such as race, color, national origin, gender, religion, age or disability, regardless of job position or status.

It is our policy to achieve and maintain a work environment based on inclusion and equity; building effective teams that draw on each employee's unique experiences, perspectives and talents. DOJ's three areas of concentration in diversity management are:

  • Developing a more diverse population at all levels;
  • Training and educating the work force in the basics of both human resources and diversity management disciplines; and
  • Maintaining fair and equitable human resource systems and processes.

DOJ's policies, processes, procedures, and practices will be in alignment with its diversity management objectives. DOJ's human resource systems will provide equal access and opportunity for ALL employees. This Agency will ensure that individual differences are not used as impermissible barriers to employment, assignment, or advancement at any level.

We are committed to achieving and maintaining an environment where all employees are valued, respected, and can reach their maximum potential as it relates to mission accomplishment. Discrimination, bias, stereotyping, or any other activity that precludes an employee's invaluable contribution to the mission will not be tolerated. Achieving such a work environment requires a personal commitment from each and every member of the DOJ.
